    So when I try to repair my hdd it says it cannot. Also cannot verify. Says
    missing threads and whatnot. Does that mean my hdd is ruined?

    After 2 months, I assume you have already done this, but Yes, it is okay.
    The reason they say to disconnect the battery is so its not somehow powered
    on while you do this. If so, and static electricity does anything, it can
    short it out. Just use caution.
