Struggling with a lack of HDD space on your PlayStation 4? Today, 500GB just does not seem like it’s enough! The questions have always been, should I upgrade my PS4 HDD? Can you upgrade the PS4 HDD? And how to add 2TB to a PS4? That’s why I decided to do something about it!

Stay tuned to learn the step by step process of upgrading your existing PS4 hardware to a larger HDD! This tutorial will teach you how to backup your settings and save files from your current drive, uninstall the physical drive, Seagate HDD enclosure removal, install the drive into the PlayStation 4, install the PlayStation firmware, and finally how to reinstall your backup file onto the new drive. This is a long tutorial, but I assure you it is the only step by step guide on YouTube that will walk you through the process from start to finish.

Also, sorry for the poorish quality of the cam footage. Premiere had a fit trying to splice clips together of different frame rates so I had to fiddle with the rendering settings which sadly dropped the quality 🙁

I have a seagate external hard drive slim that I've been using with my MacBook for about 2 years. One day I was uploading information from an iMac desktop. As the process was completing, the computer shut down. I restarted the computer but the external hard drive is no longer recognized. The external hard drive still spins and the light still comes on but the drive is not recognized on the screen. I attempted this with several mac computers as well as a PC. The PC can recognize the drive in it's administration tool but the file manager doesn't. I am unable to see the files on this drive on the mac or PC. Because it spins and the pc shows that it is functioning correctly, I attempted to clone the drive but that didn't help. I've also tried changing the sata adapter. this didn't work either. I'm looking at all of these videos about how to recover data from dead drives but I don't think my drive is dead because it's spinning. I've also tried cleaning the connections on the card. I don't know what else to do. can someone help.

*POTENTIALLY HELPFUL TIP* *LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE*

I'm fairly sure I did everything right (obviously not), because when i went to restore my back up data that i thought i saved earlier on the 2TB HD, there was nothing in there… :/ i saved/backed it up exactly like in the video but i think this is where i might have the problem, I'm certain I pressed ok at the "back up complete screen" (11:00 min in the video) and the PS4 then restarted, i turned it off when it was done, pulled out the hard drive (not thinking it might of needed to be ejected safely somehow on the PS4) then swapped the hardrives 500GB –> 2TB, installed the software update (4.55/4.50), etc. and I wreckon i made the mistake of not fully completing the back up by not making a file on it for the saved data (???) so yeah, lost everything but i have the space lol

My issue is I do not have anything to move my application from my ps4 to some other drive while I install the seagate drive in my ps4? what's the cheapest way to get a drive to move my current ps4 memory so I can install my seagate?

Do you use the flash drive that has the save data on it or a new flash drive to do the system software on the computer?
