Hard Drive not Visible in My Computer – How to Fix It – Short Version – Initialize a Hard Drive

If your hard drive is not shown in My Computer, or is not found or does not appear, then it’s a fairly simple job to fix the “not detected” problem in the Computer Management Console. This is the short version of how to repair the problem by Initializing the hard drive in Disk Management, with added links showing how to repair or, as a last-hope effort, delete the MBR.

External USB hard disk not showing up in My computer or This PC in Windows 10.
Reason: Disk is Unknown, Not initialized, No volumes are created, only contains Unallocated spaces.
Solution: open disk management Initialize disk, create a new simple volume from the Unallocated spaces.

    why my hard drive in disk management says
    Disk 1
    Not Initialized

    there is no capacity or unallocated

    i've try use this way, but my disk can't create new partition. i try use 3rd software, but 42 hour still get nothing. it strange if it has broken but still detected on disk management.

    Heyy! I NEED YOUR HELP, my HDD needs to be initialised, but when I do that, I don't want to format my data off it. Because that's the only place all of my data is, and I don't have any copies elsewhere.

    i dont want to format it,i just want to change the allocation location..this vid doesnt help me without wiping off my data

    "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error" during the step of MBR(Master boot Record) in disk management. 🙁

    I populate through device manager then disc management won't allow me to initialize. Says disc not ready( for both mbr and guid ). Not sure what to do?

    hi brother
    my problem is completely different when i open the disk management ,their only show the computer memory (disk 0) but it does not show the external hard drive(disk 1) ,please could you help me?
    when I plug the external hard drive in to computer ,the computer system does not show the external hard drive ,it show two option one is open in devices and printer and second option is eject the hard drive .
