Am I right in thinking that all external hard drives are nothing special –
they are just regular internal drives with a few extra electronics and
installed in a plastic sh**l? I am now thinking of removing all the
casings on my external hard drives and putting them all in a NAS. Is this
    a good idea??

I have a Seagate external drive that stopped working but the lights come
on. I hope I can fix it.

Here’s my question: I have that exact same drive, which only has the USB
connector (1TB instead). If I dismantled mine like you did, and put it in
an enclosure that had firewire on it, wouldn’t it be better than USB? For
video editing purposes and data transfers, wouldn’t I see a noticeable
    difference in speed?

Is there a way to recover files from a Hard drive that tells yous it’s not
accessible once you plug it into your computer? I really need to recover my
files, I removed the case that held the hard drive the way you showed but
my computer tells me it can not access it. Great video by the way! Thanks a
    ton!

Couldn’t you just have skipped the 7min unboxing XD It only took me 30
    seconds on mine 🙂
