What makes the Samsung Spinpoint F3 Fast?

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 has a rotational speed of 7,200rpm, as we all know this belongs to the faster drive. A 32MB buffer size is built in the drive, this reduces its latency up to 4.17ms for a faster data transfer in a 3.0 GB/s SATA interface. As a result, it has a thundering fast data transfer rate of 250 – 300MB/sec.

The Samsung F3 1TB has tested to compete against the two top contenders which are the Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB and the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB.

The first test is the Windows Vista Boot time. The 3 hard drives has freshly installed with Windows Vista OS and run consecutively 5 times repeatedly to get the most accurate average time. The next test would be the Crysis loading time.

Test Results Analysis

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB outperforms the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB and tied up with the Western Digital’s monster Caviar Black 2TB. During this intense test, the Spinpoint F3 is the quietest among the three.

Using the HD-Tach, it shows an exceedingly results of 258.9MB/s burst speed, an average write speed of 124.8MB/s and an average write speed of 96.7MB/s. In MP3 test with writing the 1GB file pattern, it shows an incredible speed of 5.49 seconds in copying and only 4 seconds in reading it. This drive is definitely a beast in this class.
