here is our new data recovery video for WD passport https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsnS6N9veFg

This Seagate Barracuda Green hard drive came in for data recovery with usual “clicking” sounds. Clicking hard drive is a very popular subject in our field of work, so in order to retrieve customers data this hard drive was opened and diagnosed in our cleanroom.

Customer mentioned that the drive fell off the table while it was operating, which is almost never a good news.

Seagate data recovery can be very delicate process, and what goes on behind the screen after clicking hard drive is mechanically repaired can become very time consuming depending on the condition of the platters.

Evaluation of this clicking hard drive showed that 4 out of 6 heads were completely mangled as you can see in this photo that we took: http://goo.gl/eCZbe
If this drive stayed powered on longer before we received it, most likely platters would have been highly damaged – rendering any further attempts of recovery nonsuccessive.

Despite the extensive damage to the read/write heads our engineers were able to rebuild this clicking hard drive using brand new components out of a fully functional donor HDD, followed by complex selective imaging procedure.

As a result we were able to recover close to 93% of data off this Seagate drive such sever head damage.

Why does it cost so much to do a data recovery for ordinary folks, not companies just someone that needs the files on a hard drive.?

Anyway so my Samsung M3 external hard disk suddenly stopped working. This was a bit of a blow as I had a lot of work and other good stuff on there. This will teach me in the future to BACk UP. I only bought it in Feb this year so was wondering about the Warranty. Samsung have about a million departments and when you eventually get through to someone they send you to Seagate Support. This is more websites and phone numbers that lead to a return address and a RMA number. And return instructions. These return instructions state that you should not send anything other than the bare drive to seagate. Don't send plastic cases. Its as bit fiddly but you remove the drive from the plastic case and send it to a UK address. Then I get an email the warranty is void because I removed the plastic case, And if I want my not working drive back I have to get it from Amsterdam. Is this a joke?

Loved the video, very nice demonstration. Just got done visiting your website however, and was astonished that there is one vital element missing on the site….a privacy policy. A lot of people have sensitive/personal data (doc*ments with account information, private photos, etc) on drives that need repair in which they may want to be affirmed will not be seen during the recovery process. Having worked in a profession where privacy is a key factor, clients want assurance of their privacy being a top priority. Aside from that one hitch, your website looks slick and professional and I wish you guys great business.

Is it true that you need to match the firmware exactly on the donor drive or can you just get the firmware number as close as possible? Great video by the way!

My external Seagate 1TB HDD experiences the clicking problem. It powers on, then makes about 10 clicks, each spaced about half a second apart. Then powers off by itself. No recognition in Windows. Unfortunately I've tried this too many times, hoping some day it'll miraculously work. Any hope?

my hard drive has packed in, it tries to boot up, only gets to the windows flashing logo and then switches off after a while, on other occasions it says 'hard drive not detected, try reseating hard drive'. On switching the laptop off it gives one click and then turns off, other that this when the laptop is on it doesnt make any sound. I have important files on there that need recovering please, could you help me with this please.

The hard drive is a WD2500BEVT 75A23T0 made March 2010

Have a Seagate 3TB baracuda ST3000DM001  that makes a clicking noise during bios startup.  Bios and Windows takes longer to boot.  Harddrive is not listed in bios.  I took it out of my computer and opened it.  I see black specs on the top harddrive platter and almost like black toner on the bottom top cover of the harddrive.  What is this?  I can't tell if something burnt. Why would this occur and what can I do to fix this?  Hope my issue is fixable without having to pay a professional if I want to recover my data.

Nice video. You made it look easy enough for some people to think they could do it themselves, (and maybe they could for this specific problem), and still others wondering if they'd mess it up in the process, (which many would). I've done electronic work for people who insisted watching me work and I would say most went away thinking it "looked" easy but realized I'd been doing it a long time and that's why they pay me to do what I do. Just curious – I don't get the "stay tooned" pun, (please tell that was a joke).
