The Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player is an ultra-compact, high-definition (HD) USB 2.0 media player that attaches to an entertainment unit through a variety of audio/video interfaces and supports playback of major audio, video, and image file formats. The Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player supports high-definition video playback of up to 1080p through an HDMI connection or standard definition for TVs with lower capabilities. High-fidelity digital audio is supported from an optical interface (Toslink). Two USB ports are available to connect USB storage devices. The Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player includes a remote control that lets you quickly browse through your media library and configure settings.

    does anyone know if i can hook my external harddrive to this via usb then hook my hdmi from this media player to the car entertamint center in my honda pilot and it play the videos i have on it for kids to watch in back seats

    +summitsvift  as you mentioned HD movies with 5.1, will it work 5.1 channels sound with avreciever via sound optical output? I mean normal HD movies like MKV etc??? please reply

    this is exactly what i was looking for! i got tired plugging in my hdmi to my laptop and watching movies from there, with this it is really simple!

    This video may or may not show how to connect a hard drive to a TV. But I got 2 & a half mins into it & not a single thing that even resembles showing any kind of step towards connecting your TV & hard drive was mentioned so I gave up lol 🙁

    Hi Chris. My TV has USB as well, it's a Dynex, but it only shows photos. It would be nice if the USB port on my TV would play music files

    Sick video.  When I was searching for "How to Use Your Portable Hard Drive", noticed yours was only 5:30, so decided to view it.  Awesome video.  Think that both of my Samsungs have USB slots.  Hoping and praying they do.   Thank you so much for spending the time to help me and probably a lot of others.
